Rent Smart Wales – What You Need to Know

Since 23rd November 2015, new legislation introduced by Rent Smart Wales has set higher standards for the private rented sector in Wales.

This law requires all landlords and agents involved in letting or managing rental properties to register and, in many cases, become licensed.

If you are a landlord who carries out letting or property management activities yourself, you must apply for a Rent Smart Wales licence, which includes completing approved training and passing relevant assessments.

However, if Elwy manages the property on your behalf, you are not required to obtain a licence. You will only need to register as a landlord through the Rent Smart Wales website.
